  • What does Botox treatment involve?
Botox treatment can take as little as 10 minutes, depending on the extent of your session. When you arrive for your treatment, your nurse may numb your skin to reduce discomfort during the treatment. You may receive a numbing injection, a numbing cream or a cold spray on your skin. Next, a nurse will use a tiny needle to inject the Botox cosmetic into your skin or muscles. For crow’s feet, you will receive up to 3 injections in the orbicularis oculi (the muscle on the side of the eye area) on each side of your face, and for frown lines, you will receive 5 injections total in the muscles in your forehead.
  • How much does Botox cost?
The cost of Botox injections depends on the size of your facial muscles, the skill and experience of the injector, the number of treatment areas, the number of product units, where you live, and your desired outcome. Typically, men require more units than women because they have larger facial muscles. Here at Mathis Aesthetics. Botox costs $14 per unit. The price of a Botox treatment typically ranges between $350-$650 at our MedSpa, depending on the number of units required. NEW BOTOX® Tiered pricing: Below 40 units= $14 per unit Below 60 units= $12 per unit 60 units+= $11 per unit 65+ = $10/unit
  • When will I see results?
Botox injections do not work instantly. When Botox is injected, it takes from seven to fourteen (7-14) days to fully block the nerves that make the muscles contract, causing them to relax. In most cases, patients should be able to see a slightly noticeable difference in the appearance of the treated area within the first week. If this is your first Botox treatment, you may experience a “heavy” sensation or feelings of tightness in the treatment area. Because your muscles have been temporarily paralyzed, you likely also notice a difference in your range of expressions.
  • How should I prepare for my Botox treatment?
Before your Botox treatment, let your nurse know if you have had any other type of botulinum toxin injections in the last four months or if you have taken any muscle relaxants, sleeping medication or allergy medications. Your nurse may also ask you to refrain from taking blood thinners before your treatment. You may wear your normal clothing to your treatment.
  • Is there downtime after a Botox treatment?
Sometimes called a lunchtime procedure, you can expect little to no recovery time after your treatment. You can return to your normal activities immediately. We do recommend that you stay upright and refrain from massaging the injection area for 4 hours after the procedure, to prevent the cosmetic from moving beyond the treated area.
  • What does a Botox injection feel like?
Quick and minimally invasive, your mid-level medical injector (nurse practitioner or physician assistant) will inject Botox with a very small needle directly into the muscles that need to be relaxed. Any discomfort at the injection site should be very minimal. You might feel a slight residual stinging immediately after your Botox injections. A small bump may also appear where the injection occurs, but that will quickly fade. After five minutes, your face will look nearly identical to how it looked when you walked into Mathis Aesthetics, with the exception of some redness if you have sensitive skin. Typically, you can return back to work or normal activity immediately post-treatment. On a scale from 1-10, most guests rate it a 1-2.
  • What is Masseter Botox?
Masseter Botox is the name for the medical treatment where Botox is injected into the masseter muscle. This treatment is also referred to as “teeth-grinding injections” or “jaw Botox.” The masseter muscle is a large, rectangular facial muscle that connects your lower jaw to your cheek bone and is the main muscle for chewing. Injecting botulinum toxin type A into the masseter blocks nerve cells to help relax the muscle. It is a highly effective treatment for patients who clench or grind their teeth or have been diagnosed with TMJ. Masseter Muscle Botox is also popular non-surgical treatment to help reduce the width and shape of a square jawline — known as jawline slimming or facial slimming.
  • How long does Masseter Botox last?
Botox results typically last 3-4 months. How often you need Botox treatments is slightly different for every individual. Our bodies metabolize the botulism toxin injections at different rates. Muscle mass, age and your desired outcome also help determine the ideal treatment protocol.
  • How often will I need Botox injections?
For optimal results, you will need Botox injections at regular intervals every 3-4 months.
  • How will I feel after my Botox treatment?
It is very common to feel slight heaviness or pressure in the treated area after Botox injections. Some people experience temporary side effects like a mild headache on the treatment day and the day after.
